OXYGEN is a private company established in 2014 and is registered in South Africa. Since the company’s inception, Oxygen has grown exponentially, partnering with clients, contractors and project delivery consultants to deliver projects across the African continent. OXYGEN provides comprehensive occupational health and safety service throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that all business performance objectives are successfully met.

OXYGEN supports the entire front-end loading phase of the project and then deploys sound occupational health and safety systems, processes and resources to manage the occupational health and safety risks during project execution. Competent people and sound, reliable systems and practices are the key ingredients for our success in executing each and every project that is undertaken.

    Lourens Bezuidenhout

    Managing Director

    Lourens has twenty-three years of experience in project SHEQ management on projects around the globe. Lourens serves the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) as an assessor, committee member and mentor.

    Fred du Plessis

    Technical Expert EHS – Pr.CHSA

    Fred has more than eighteen years of experience in project SHEQ management on projects around the globe. Fred holds a qualification in industrial engineering. Fred is registered with the SACPCMP as a Professional Construction Health and Safety Agent (Pr. CHSA) and serves the Council currently as an assessor.

    Elaine Janse van Rensburg

    Business Systems Lead – SHEQ

    Elaine has twenty-two years of experience in developing, implementing, managing and controlling SHEQ management systems within the construction, transport, chemical, engineering, electronic warfare, project management and consulting industries.  Elaine holds a degree in environmental health from the Pretoria Technicon (1996).

    Tristan has over 10 years of experience working in sales, procurement and business management. She has also acquired various skills pertaining to inventory control, supply management as well as procedures and systems.

    Lourenzo has exceptional work experience in the Occupational Health and Safety environment. 
    Covering a broad range of Construction, Petrochemical, Mining, Mechanical and Electrical Utility Projects Governed under the OHSA/MHSA & NEMA legislative and regulative requirements. SACPCMP registered.

    Leoniki is a qualified Graphic Designer with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Communication obtained from The Open Window, and has experience in Print Design, Illustration, and Social Media Management.

    AECOM | Mooi Mgeni Transfer Scheme II

    The Mgeni Water System in KwaZulu-Natal supplies water to approximately five million people, as well as the industrial sectors in the Durban and Pietermaritzburg regions, the economic hubs of the province. Estimated Project Value – ZAR 720 million.

    AIR LIQUIDE | AIR Liquide Train 17 ASU Project, SASOL, South Africa

    Detailed engineering and project implementation of the largest air separation unit ever built. Multi disciplined project in the energy business sector. – South Africa – Estimated Project Value – ZAR 3 billion.

    VEDANTA | Gamsberg Project, Vedanta Zinc International

    The Gamsberg, Vedanta Zinc International’s flagship zinc project, located about 30km from the operations of Black Mountain Mining at Aggeneys, is being developed as an open pit mine with a dedicated plant, on one of the largest known, unexploited zinc ore bodies in the world, which was discovered more than 40 years ago.

    OXYGEN’s Scope:

    Client’s Construction Health and Safety Agent – Design risk analysis, baseline construction risk analysis, OHS specification development, management of legal framework and all legal matters with regard to occupational health and safety, application for health and safety permitting. Complete project EHS, execution support.

    UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA

    The University of Pretoria is in process of upgrading their campuses, Oxygen is currently performing agent’s services for multiple projects on the campus including a library upgrade project, 2 new medical skills laboratory projects and a new pedestrian bridge project connecting the residences with the health sciences campus.

    OXYGEN is the appointed professional construction health and safety agent (Pr. CHSA) for these projects.

    Our responsibilities include:

    Prepare Client’s Health and Safety Specification for the construction phase of the project, conduct baseline Risk Analysis for the construction phase of the project, prepare legal framework and all legal appointments, facilitate design risk analysis, provide on-site Health and Safety support during the construction phase, conduct legal compliance reviews (audits).

    DBSA | Bulk Services Supply to Dunnottar ext. 7 Project

    Detailed engineering and project implementation of bulk services supply to the township of Dunnottar. Multi disciplined project (road and intersection upgrading and construction, Sewer installation, potable water installation, storm water installation, overhead powerline installation and wetland mitigation measures installation) in the infrastructure business sector – South Africa
    Project Value – ZAR 145 million

    SIVEST | Sappi Saiccor Project

    Construction of a new woodyard facility for the Saiccor mill of Sappi in Umkomaas, including new material handling systems for both the wood and the chips post the new wood-chipper feeding a new stockpile yard with  automated reclamation and material handling infrastructure to feed the mill. KZN South Africa - Project Value - ZAR 245 million.

    VOPAK | South Africa Developments Terminal Lesedi

    The Lesedi Fuel Depot will comprise seven tanks, consisting of two 26.2m-diameter tanks and five 36.8m-diameter tanks. This project expands Vopak’s infrastructure to help meet South Africa’s increasing demand for petroleum products.

    The new depot will improve the security of fuel supply by facilitating the import of cleaner fuels into South Africa. In addition to the seven tanks, the project scope includes eight truck-loading bays with a vapour recovery system, and a pipeline connection to the state-owned NMPP for refined petroleum products.

    The entire project is divided into three phases. The scope of work includes the construction of seven tank foundations, a foundation berm wall, and a 35m×35m×7m concrete manifold structure. Project Value - ZAR 1.1 billion.
